Advancing sustainability through waste management and clean energy solutions
COMPOSTING OF ORGANIC WASTE PROJECT IN GUANGXI
Located
This project aims to provide effective waste management and renewable energy generation in Guangxi, China.
Helping mitigate methane emissions and generate renewable energy to support local and national sustainable development goals
By utilizing an anaerobic covered lagoon system, the project will not only reduce methane emissions but also produce biogas as fuel for heat and electricity.
Besides this, the project will contribute towards better waste management practices and enhance soil quality by producing organic fertilizer, thus benefiting local agriculture.
The project is expected to reduce a total of 32,087,169 tCO2eq emissions over 21 years.
The project activity is located in Guangxi, China. The project includes two instances: one in Tiandong Petrochemical Industrial Park, Tiandong County, Baise City, and another in Yizhou District, Hechi City.

The VCS is an international voluntary carbon offset program that is run by the US-based non-profit corporation, Verra. The VCS is managed and overseen by the VCS Program Advisory Group and the Verra Board of Directors.
Emission reduction projects based in almost any country can be eligible to be registered under Verra’s VCS registry, subject to Verra’s registration, validation, and verification process. Like most other carbon offset programs, registered projects range from renewable energy projects, afforestation & reforestation, to smaller community-based projects. Registered VCS projects can be issued carbon credits known as Verified Carbon Units (VCUs).
